I’m finally in the home stretch on my first Monkey sock. Well, it’s technically a Monkey-like sock. I did a picot edge ala Margene – this is truly an inspired touch. I really didn’t care for the ribbing on the original pattern, but the picot edge is perfect. Otherwise, I was going to make the sock according to the pattern – but after I did a couple of repeats, I decided that I didn’t like how the purl stitches looked with this yarn, so I frogged it and am redoing it with knits instead of purls. It makes a less distinctive pattern, but with this yarn, I like it better. And as long as I’ve already made a bunch of modifications, I think I’ll do a round toe instead of a wedge toe. What the heck – I’m feeling radical.
Aren’t the blues lovely? It’s Trekking XXL – a gift from Heather.
And if you need a few smiles today: On Tuesday, Susan was telling us about a couple of photos on ICanHasCheezburger that made her laugh out loud. I finally remembered to look for them today, and had a good laugh too (the look on the dog’s face is priceless). But it was hard for me to move on from today’s photo, which made me laugh even more.
