Project Spectrum Elements

The Project Spectrum for 2008 is all about the elements – fire, earth, air, and water. April and May are “Earth”: greens, browns, and metallics. To kick off the new element, I’ve started on Forest Canopy, using Plain & Fancy Wool Company’s sport yarn in “Brown Variegated”. I think the color name isn’t quite right for the yarn, though, since it’s really more like dark olive-y greens and maroons, but it definitely says “earthy” to me.

Forest Canopy

This is my first Forest Canopy, and I can see that it will go very quickly. It’s a very simple but elegant lace pattern that’s easy to memorize. I can see why it’s such a popular pattern.

And did you notice that dark shadow in the photo? Yes, it’s sunny! It looks like it will be a nice Spring day today. I guess I’ll go out and cut some of the daffodils.

Sun! Yeah! I love forest canopy. I want to make everyone I know knit it at least once. 😀

Oh, I LOVE your yarn – and you’re doing a lovely job so far. I bet you won’t have to try to cover up slight… variations in the pattern caused by knitting ADD.

Coincidentally, the yarn I chose has those earth tones. It wasn’t on purpose, but I note that several people have chosen colorways in the brown/green family for the FC and I think they look fabulous!
