Sunday Sky

My original plans for this morning were to walk a few blocks to watch the Pride Parade. But then I got a better offer – breakfast with good friends. And where did we go?

Silver Fork lodge, of course. See those mountains way over there?

After about 40 minutes of driving from my house, and a fabulous breakfast (Huevos Rancheros, in case you’re interested), we were here:

As you can see there’s still a lot of snow at Brighton, including a fresh coat from a few days ago. Here’s the boardwalk around Silver Fork Lake – still too snowy to walk most of it:

Uh, lake? What lake? From the photo above, you’d never know it was there. Ah! There it is! Just starting to peek out from the ice and snow.

It was pretty cold – probably under 40 degrees, but an absolutely gorgeous day for taking photos:

Fortunately, the guys are patient while Margene and I snap photos.

Something I really love about late snows – how beautiful the snowy peaks look in contrast to the lush green of the mountains in late Spring:

How can you not love the view on a day like this?

Hee hee – the minute you said Silver Fork Lodge, I knew who else was involved! GORGEOUS up there.

  2. Lucky you, being so close to such wonderful people. And you get to wear knits to stay warm too! Looks like a very relaxing Sunday.

I’m so jealous! I love the huevos rancheros at Silver Fork. And of course I love Margene, Smith, you and Larry. Wish I’d been with you!

What a beautiful day! (And such gorgeous photos!) You wouldn’t want to send some of that cooler weather down to Florida would you? 😉

It was SUCH a perfect weekend. It could stay just like this until after Labor Day as far as I’m concerned. I went out and rode Sunday a.m., came home, had lunch, and took horse boy #2 out in the afternoon. Absolutely perfect.

We were just commenting yesterday on the awesome contrast between the snow and the green. Even though some in this house are complaining, I’m loving this weather.
