Today’s weather couldn’t be better. How nice to spend the evening on the deck: 85 degrees F., 35% humidity. Absolutely perfect. Just right for your choice of an a orange/mango cocktail, Mojito, or beer.
But beware of the dreaded Mojito shark, also known as the Magic Goldfish Wand Toy. If you’re not careful, it will suck all of the juice out of your Mojito.
Lemme tell ya – there’s nothing like a made-from-scratch Mojito:
- 4 large mint leaves (I like spearmint). The leaves on the mint in my garden were pretty small, so I just used a handful.
- 2 Tbsp simple syrup (1 part sugar to 1 part water, heated until sugar dissolves) – or, 4 tsp superfine sugar
- juice from 1 lime (or 2 oz lime juice, but fresh is best!)
- ice
- 2 oz white rum
- 2 oz club soda
- sprig of mint (for garnish)
Place the mint leaves in a tall (“Collins”) glass and squeeze the juice over them. Add the simple syrup or sugar, and smash the mint with a muddler, spoon, or fork. Add ice, then add rum and stir. Top off with club soda, and garnish with mint sprig.
Oh yes. But I don’t dare knit.
I love a Mojito, too, and my mint is growing nicely – hooray!
Too bad Mayhem didn’t stop by for a visit. She would have saved you.
Scooter says anytime you need help, he’ll grab the goldfish and mom will grab the mojito.
Where did you get that toy?? Mayhem demands to know.
Oh, c’mon–live dangerously! I say, knit after you’ve had a couple of mojitos. It’ll be fun.
I copied that recipe and I will be trying it this weekend. It is making my mouth water. I found your website from heather joins the round. Hope you don’t mind.
