Back to the 70’s

When I saw a lot of di.Ve’ Zenith yarn on sale at Webs at the end of last year, I immediately thought of Tubey. I knew that I wanted to make it with dark brown as the main color, and at $3.99 per ball, this seemed like a good time to buy. It’s always a gamble to choose a yarn color from a photo, especially on the Internet, but I just bought one ball each of a few other colors that looked like they would go with the dark brown.

Retro Tubey

And they do, I guess, but I’m definitely having flashbacks to the 70’s. Almond. Harvest Gold. Avocado Green. Hmmm. This definitely reminds me of a lot of the clothes I wore back then. And the wallpaper my mother put in the kitchen in the early 70’s, except that it also had a lot of burnt orange in it, too.

I wasn’t originally planning on doing any more stripes on the body – just the few at the bustline. But I’m just not sure about that green. Maybe I’ll rip back and switch the green and gold. Or add some more stripes.

Hmmm… now that you mention it, it does have a bit of 70s feel to it.

That green looks more minty to me. I remember the avocado green washer/dryer my mother had. o.0

The green does look more minty in the photos. Nothing wrong with the 70s look. It’s the 80s you want to stay away from.

IMHO I think adding another small stripe of the gold or white on the lower side of the green would be cool. I would do that before switching the gold and green.

I actually think it looks pretty good as is, but you’re the boss of it!

I left something on my blog for you. Please go get it and pass it on.

I think it needs a little orange shag.

Actually, it looks great. 70’s invoked but updated. A small stripe of gold or white on the lower side of the green *would* be cool (like Lani said).

My screen colors are not accurate (the base looks almost black to me) but mentally adjusting for that… I like the basic combination. I agree about adding another white stripe, and possibly a narrow gold one, too. It would balance out the wide green nicely. You go, girl!

  9. Looks good to me….Although who knows how accurate the colors on my monitor are. Now’s the time for change, though…

That pattern will be way cute on you, though.

I like it, but as Nora says, you’re the boss.

    I. Love. Tubey. Someday I will knit it.

    Also, I. Love. Brown.

And so do you. Don’t I remember you saying that brown + blue is your favorite? No worries, it will be lovely.

It’s so hard to tell on a monitor–looks dark blue to me!
