It’s a Snow Day! (Sorry, Carrie.) |

The bad side means having to shovel snow. |

And I guess this means that my iris probably won’t bloom. |

But the good side means it’s a great day for having soup and sandwiches for lunch, as well as a nice spot of tea. |

And it’s a great day for playing with all of the lovely leftover yarn Anne gave me from her Holly and Poinsettia mittens – it’s enough to do the colorwork on the cuffs, so I only needed to order the two main yarns for the mittens. It’s already been shipped, so hopefully it will arrive soon. |
It would be a perfect day for knitting in front of a fire. And one of my most favorite things about our house is our interesting fireplace, with its pretty summer cover. I don’t think you can tell from the photo, but the center detail is some sort of helmeted person. A Greek or Roman soldier, maybe? Who knows. Sadly, we’ve never had the fireplace and chimney inspected, so we’ve never used it. I’m pretty sure without the inspection that it would need a lot of work before it was safe to use. Still, it’s a nice addition to the living room.
That is a gorgeous fireplace!
I love that fireplace cover. It’s almost as good to sit and knit in front of a fireplace with out the fire than with. Do you have Spare the Air days? like we do, when you can’t use your fireplace (if you could).
How nice of Anne. Your fireplace looks lovely. You should have it inspected and use it. You might be surprised.
Happy Saturday!
Yay! Even without the actual fire, not a bad day.
Pretty snow!
You’re still closer to a fire than am since I don’t even have a fire place. xo
Wishes she could have a snow day to stay home! I would probably forgo the shoveling for staying under my blankets though. 😉
Great fireplace!
