Now that I have tea cozies for my teapots, I’ve been thinking about my coffee mugs.
I wasn’t sure that a coffee cozy would really make all that much difference in keeping my mug of coffee warm. It seemed to me that what I really needed for it was some sort of lid over the top.
So I came up with this – a matching sweater and hat for my coffee mug:
The hat is actually just a plastic lid (in this case, from a sour cream container), with a knitted cover. The lid is easily removable for cleaning of both the lid and hat.
I plan on just offering the pattern for free, but it would be nice if I could have one or more people test-knit it before I make it public. Let me know if you’re interested, and I’ll send you the pattern. It only takes about 1 ounce of worsted-weight wool to make both the sweater and hat, so it’s perfect for leftover yarn. I used Cascade 220. Even if you only want to make the cozy and not the hat, that would be useful since I have both charted and written directions for the cozy, and I’d like to have both of them tested.
It’s adorable! I’m test knitting some socks right now, alas.
That is darling! I have some Cascade 220 scrap – I’ll knit the cozy for you if you want!
Wait ’til you see what I made earlier today… so much less sophisticated than your offering!
xo
That is the cutest hat I’ve ever seen. Very good work!
That is so cute! I would test knit for you if you need it ๐
Darling!
That is freakin’ adorable!!!
Fun! I’ll test it for you if you’d like.
I love this pattern! It is adorable!
So cute!! It reminds me a little bit of the dancing mushrooms in Fantasia… Didn’t they dance to one of the songs in the Nutcracker??
Wonderful! I would test knit it, but it could take me a year to get it done. Although I am finally up to the first cable crossing on my second mitt. ๐
Oh! Did it make a difference in the tea / coffee temp?
Happy Monday!
I would be honored to test knit your pattern. I can start right away!
blessings, Patti
How cute is that?
Looks like you have enough test knitters, but let me know if any fall through. It looks like big fun!
That is adorable!
That is so cute. You are so creative!
Adorable! Need another test knitter?
What a great idea. Thank you for your great pattern. My mug cozy was getting ratty looking and I was thinking of knitting a new one. The tam for the mug will certainly come in handy. I am also getting up an walking a way from my latte or tea. This is will certainly help keep my drink warm.
