Just got back from a whirlwind trip… Drove to Las Vegas on Wednesday. Drove from Las Vegas to Phoenix on Thursday. Wedding rehearsal dinner Thursday night. Wedding Friday night. Drove back to Las Vegas on Saturday, and then back to Salt Lake City on Sunday.
The highlights: the wedding of The Pontiff’s niece, road trip with the family, gorgeous weather in Phoenix (with a few hours of pool time), lots of good food (too much!), and lots of knitting time on the road.
In Phoenix, we stayed at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs resort, which was wonderful. We had lovely suites nestled up against the mountains. There were 8 pools on the property, including a cute little pool snuggled into the mountain above our rooms – you had to climb a bunch of stairs to get to it, but it was like having our own private pool.
The wedding was lovely, and everything went well. The newlyweds are on their way to a honeymoon cruise in the Caribbean.
If you want photos, you can visit my Flickr album for the trip. There aren’t a lot of photos of the wedding, because it was dusk and I knew they wouldn’t turn out well. I figured the professional photographer’s photos would be much better than mine.
I did get a couple of photos out the car window of the new bypass that’s going in at Hoover Dam. That will be awesome when it’s finished – it will make that drive so much easier.
Four days of long road trips did result in a lot of knitting being done. More on that later.
