Yippee Skippy!
We had a beautiful day in the 60’s. Seemed like spring! Perfect for a photo shoot.
Pattern: Forest Canopy, by Susan Lawrence
Yarn: Cookie’s handspun from Cupcake Fiber Company sock batts, colorway “Cookie Wined/Whined”
Needles: US 7/4.5mm
Modifications: I love the Forest Canopy pattern just as it is, but to make the best use of the yardage, I wanted to make the shawl a bit wider and shallower so there would be plenty of width for throwing it over my shoulders. To do that, I did an increase on every wrong side row (except for the border) as follows:
k2, p1, pf&b, purl to last 4 sts, pf&b, p1, k2
That gave me 6 increases over 2 rows instead of 4.
I had to work out how to fit the extra stitches into beginning and ending of each row, but I think it worked out very well. I love the shape, and it sits nicely on the shoulders. It’s a great size for a shoulder shawl or scarf.
Ravelry project here.
Cookie‘s handspun was awesome to work with – springy, squishy, and elastic. And so even and well-balanced! It was truly a pleasure to knit with it, and the finished shawl feels great. Cookie, you’re a peach! xoxoxoxoxoxo
I love it!
How on earth did you turn my weirdo first sock yarn into such a beautiful shawl?!
Love the modifications, love Cookie’s yarn and love your finished project! Loved the sunny day, too!
Your knitting, Cookie’s spinning, couldn’t be anything else but lovely, of course.
Totally awesome! You did a fantastic job adapting the pattern.
Lovely!
Wow, gorgeous!! Perfect execution too.
One of the prettiest I have seen.
Stunning! It’s taking me FOREVER to knit a shawl and you whip that lovely piece up in no time – with modifications! I am humbled, again. Brava!
And short sleeves in February? 🙂
It really is beautiful, and I love the shape. Do let us know how you worked in those extra stitches!
Love it!
Oh so beautiful!
I keep going back to this pattern, I think you gave me the final reason to knit it soon.
LOL at Cookie’s comment! It’s gorgeous! And I’m so jealous of your weather. True, it was 46F here today, but 60!
