Oh, that's the way, uh-huh uh-huh, I like it

We’ve been having severe winter storm warnings since Thursday, but up until last night, we’d only had a tiny bit of snow on the valley floor. Mostly it was a lot of wind, and the snow was passing over us and hitting the mountains.

When I went to bed last night, it still wasn’t snowing, but I knew there would be some by morning. So what sight greeted me this morning?

February Snow

That’s about 4″ of snow on the railing and deck, but since the temperatures have been mild, there’s virtually no snow at all on the driveway, sidewalks, or streets. In fact, the only place on the driveway that has snow is that little bit you can see in front of the garage door – and that’s mostly slush. The rest of the driveway is protected by houses on either side, so it stays warmer and drier.

Yay! No shoveling! (Well, just a bit – the deck needs to be cleared.)

The snow went exactly where it’s needed and wanted – the mountains and ski resorts. Check out Snowbird’s snowfall over the last 48 hours:

Snowbird weather reportFresh powder for the skiiers, and more water for the watershed. If I really want to go play in the snow, it’s only a half hour away.

But I think I’ll just stay home and have some tea. “They” say more snow is coming.

We have light snow here. Hopefully no real accumulation…

Dave tried to go ski this morning, but he made it 1 mile up the canyon (once they finally opened it) and then sat waiting and not moving. After an hour spent in one spot, he gave up and came home.

yay! perfect snow. good for looking at but none actually in your way.

That is indeed a very lovely and considerate snow, just as we love it!

But, don’t you knit while having that tea?!? 🙂

If you got it last night then we will probably have it today. It is really, really windy right now!

  7. jill says:

We’ve been promised snow for several days, but no sign of it. As long as the inversion stays at bay, I’m not complaining. Enjoy that tea!

    It was the perfect storm!

Those are just the sort of snow days I love too, the sort requiring little shoveling and then tucked inside with tea.. and whatever else :^) Hope the ‘more snow’ is comparable to this one.

We’ve got nuttin. Less than nuttin. It is so super dry here right now, it’s sort of unbelievable.
