I was out in the yard this morning, and heard an unusual bird sound.
I turned around to see a handsome pair of quail walking along the roof of my garage, then hopping along the top of the fence.
I was so excited to see them, that it took a while to realize I had my camera with me. By the time I did, they were already on the neighbor’s fence, and I only had time to grab this quick photo of the male.
Although I’ve had quail at the other houses I’ve lived in in Salt Lake City, they’re pretty rare in the downtown area. This is the first time I’ve ever seen them in my yard at this house, and it’s only the second time I’ve seen them at all in my neighborhood.
I hope they’ll be back later with a bunch of little babies in tow.
WoW! How cool is that? I hope they come back with some little ones too.. and that you have your camera on you again when it happens!
I’m envious you’re out in the yard. Hopefully your visitors will be back. They’re charming birds and, in our area, I see and hear them often.
So cool!
I’m so jealous! I miss having quail in the garden. Always so much fun to watch.
Oh, I cannot imagine how cute wee baby quail would be!
I love quail. Except when the whole durn line of them runs across the street in front of my car.
I love their little chubby bodies on short legs and their cries of “Chicago!”
It so exciting to see all animals come out this time of year. I have lots of busy birds in the backyard building and caring for their nests. They sing a lot too, and I love it. I saw a groundhog yesterday. I know he lives under the shed……only saw one last year but I don’t think its this same guy. I wish I could see the babies. No bunnies yet.
I love seeing the babies, too!
We have LOTS of Quail. Congratulations on your first!
