This year, Snowbird ski resort got 783″ of snow, breaking the previous record (in 1984) by nearly a whopping 95″. Average snowfall is around 500″.
When we were there on Monday, it was 55 degrees and sunny, but there’s still over 100″ of snow mid-mountain.
Here’s a view from the top of Hidden Peak (click for bigger)
And a view towards the valley from the tram – you can see how the snow rapidly disappears towards the bottom of the canyon:
It was beautiful, but with the summer temperatures starting, there’s a lot of flooding. The rivers and waterfalls in the canyon were spectacular, but a bit scary.
You can also see how green the mountain is just below the snow line. Have we ever seen it this green! What a year. Thanks for the pictures. We need to drive up and see what’s left of the snow.
Gorgeous! Not going to be a water shortage year, huh?!
Beautiful!
That is remarkable to contemplate. That is just SO MUCH SNOW. Betcha people are still hiking and skiing.
Still jealous.
I think I heard that Snowbird was going to be open for weekend skiing through July 4th. And it’s 89 degrees in the valley right now.
The hills are alive…. beautiful, Cheryl!
GORgeous. and now I have snow envy on top of the shed envy. toss in shawl with ruffle envy.. : D
