What’s this? Whatever could it mean?
Last night we sat in the kitchen with some steamed clams and a bottle of wine, and discussed the cabinets and appliances. We thought about what would work now with the cabinets as they are, and what would work in the future if we decide to paint the cabinets (and what color we’d paint them.)
I’m more of a white appliance gal (especially if we end up painting the cabinets white), while Larry likes stainless steel. We compromised on black. We decided to keep the cabinets as they are for now, but will consider painting them later. I don’t mind black with the oak, and if we paint the cabinets later, I think they’d look fine with white cabinets, and probably would be fine with just about any color.
So what’s with the paperwork on the table?
With the color chosen, Larry ran to the computer to look at microwave ovens. We’d been at Lowe’s and Home Depot earlier in the day, and he’d been researching them for a couple of days. On the Lowe’s website, he saw that they had a Samsung (his top choice) for only $99, with free delivery. Hmmm. We didn’t see that at the store when we were there. He went ahead and ordered it. Within 5 minutes, Lowe’s called us and asked when we wanted it delivered. They said it was a great deal, especially since they normally charge $75 for home delivery. Not that we really needed home delivery, since we only live 1.5 miles away, and it isn’t like we couldn’t have put it in the car. We arranged to have it delivered today, and sure enough, we had it by 9 am this morning. The delivery guy also said it was a great deal – and that it was their last one. Turns out it was an early Black Friday special, and it was “while supplies last”. We must be living right.

We also decided that we wouldn’t replace the other appliances right now, which means a mish-mash of colors for a while. But after looking at the dismal reviews for dishwashers these days, we’re thinking our old one might outlast a new one.

Oh yeah – my brother & SIL had nothing but trouble with their new dishwasher. I’m sure they were glad to be rid of it when they sold their house.

So very nice! I like black. I like white. My husband? We have a dishwasher on the way – stainless. I cannot wait for my hands to recover from the last couple of years hand washing. Love Lowes. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with the colors!
