Last year in my annual recap, I posted that I wanted to continue knitting down my stash, as well as getting rid of other “stuff” around the house.
How did I do?
On the home front, pretty well. We got rid of a lot of things in the basement, and by remodeling the mudroom-now-sunroom, we got that reorganized and got rid of more excess junk.
As for the yarn, not quite so well. My goal was simply to end the year with less yarn in the stash than I started with. And I did, but only by 2 skeins. However, that includes about 20 skeins of yarn that I received as prizes/gifts. If I take those away, I was down 22 skeins. Not great, but not bad, either.
Another goal was to only buy yarn if I had a specific project in mind for it. I did much better with that. Until my eyes glazed over when confronted with this:
Two skeins of madelinetosh tosh sock yarn in Nutmeg.
I couldn’t help it. It looked so nice against my black coat.
That colorway is gorgeous. I would have purchased it, too!
I loved the shop sample they had of “Different Lines” with that yarn and a charcoal-gray one. If they’d had that colorway in stock, I would have bought one skein of each and copied the shawl. But since they didn’t have it, I decided that something entirely in that color would be quite nice.
Cheryl, I am SO SORRY that those bitches kept giving you yarn just to mess up your numbers. I think that’s a cruel and heartless thing to do and I would know because I think I was one of those bitches.
Love the new yarn, btw.
Well, a girl can only be so strong. Pretty!
You did rehome a lovely knitting pattern, but not last year.
Yum, I can practically TASTE that yarn.
That is some pretty good lookin’ yarn there.
Probably you shouldn’t worry about the numbers and go knit yourself some new socks instead. 🙂
Pretty, pretty. I’m waiting for my Jimmy Beans to arrive. Really hadn’t planned on buying anything, but then I received a gift card. What’s a girl to do? Madeline Tosh.
Madeline Tosh has several good reasons to buy yarn. I should know.
Yeah! What Cookie said! 😀 That nutmeg is beautiful. I couldn’t have resisted.
I have a new black coat — first one in years — with a fab collar that can be worn many ways… many ways that show off lovely yarn (there isn’t a color that doesn’t “GO”) and handknits.
; )
You did well! And I’d have bought those skeins too. I rather want to lick them for some reason. Good job!
