So Sweet!

For those of you with young ones, you might be interested in these knitting-related children’s storybooks by Joanna Johnson. I haven’t seen them in person – I just ran across them in Ravelry’s recent book giveaway and was charmed.

The illustrations are beautiful, and the knitting patterns are very cute. Reviews indicate that the stories are wonderful as well.

Phoebe’s Sweater, about a young mouse who is soon to have a new little brother or sister, and how her mother knits her a sweater. Ravelry pattern pages here. The little mouse doll with the sweater makes me squee. See Knitcircus review.

Freddie’s Blanket, about a young platypus growing from a baby to a child, and having to learn to sleep in a “big boy” bed. Ravelry pattern pages here. There’s a nice review and interview at Petite Purls. Notice that Freddie’s mom is wearing French Press slippers. Hee!

    Oh, these sound so cute!

aw, yay! There is supposedly another out about a little girl with a magic, unending box of yarn, but I haven’t gotten any of those for the boys. Need to get on with my indoctrination. (I suspect if I lived someplace colder, where more than one sweater a year was needed, they’d be more into the indoctrination.)

So fun! Now if I only had some grandkids…well, not yet!
