And then the rains came…

I was having a lovely afternoon planting flowers in the garden.

The sky grew darker and darker. I knew afternoon thunderstorms were in the forecast, but I continued onward.

Thunderstorm

Until that big flash of lightening and boom of thunder.

I skedaddled in only a few minutes before the downpour.

These are the days when I love having my huge covered front porch. It’s wonderful to sit out there to watch (and smell) the rain.

We will have a covered porch on our new house. Sitting outside in the rain sounds positively superb!

Growing up I had the SE corner bedroom. The rain almost never came out of the East and with my bed right at the window I would often lay there with the window open watching, listening and smelling the rain. 🙂 Nice to have a porch isn’t it?

That’s one of my favorite things about a covered porch, too. I wish we still had one!

We’ve been getting an early evening thunder storm every night this week. The first one was cool, but now they’re messing with my walking the dog. They are exciting though.

I’m a little bit sorry I missed it, but flying through wouldn’t have been fun so I guess it all worked out.

Oh, cool. We’ve only had a couple of thunderstorms this year, and they’ve all been at night!
