This past weekend was the Utah Arts Festival. The weather was perfect – in the mid-70’s in the evening, and just right for walking around to enjoy the art, music and food.
Although I usually go to the festival every year, I don’t usually end up buying anything. But this year I bought this piece of art from Yan Inlow, an artist whose work I have been admiring at the festivals for several years:
It’s not a painting – it’s all hand embroidered silk. Here’s a closeup for more detail:
The cute little goldfinch was just perfect for me, as it’s my favorite bird to entice to the bird feeder.
Yan’s art is amazing, and some of the larger pieces are totally spectacular. She had a large picture of a tiger that was incredibly detailed and had a note that it had taken her 2 months to complete.
If you’d like more information, her website is here – go to the “Home” tab for a video that shows her in action working on some lovely poppies.
There’s also a nice interview with her here.
Wow, the texture is amazing.
Stunning! What a wonderful piece.
That’s gorgeous.
Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful.
Wow. Just wow. I don’t think I even want to know how many hours are in that piece.
Your goldfinch is so beautiful, detailed perfectly and very lifelike. She does fabulous work!
So amazing!
I love it.
