Heh. Two knitting posts in a row. I’m on a roll!
After finishing my sweater, the only thing I still had on the needles was the Holbrook shawl. I’m on the border now, which makes it a bit less easy to cart around and work on in public, since I have to follow a chart. But it looks like it’s going to go pretty quickly. I did one extra repeat on the body before starting the border:
I need something a little more mindless to work on for my Stitch ‘n Bitch meetings, so I’m planning to start on French Cancan using some merino/cashmere I snagged from Colourmart. But the yarn is coned and oiled for machine knitting, so I have to decide whether to prepare the yarn before or after knitting. Colourmart recommends knitting first, then washing. But I need to be able to check the weight of the yarn as I knit, and I’m not positive about the weight of the cone. The other times I used Colourmart yarn, I skeined and washed the yarn first.
So while I decide, I started on something else. Socks! I know! It’s been a long time since I made socks. In order not to overwhelm myself, I’m making house socks in DK weight yarn. Christmas socks, no less!
I’m making the socks in the upper left from this pattern. I’m sure they’ll be too heavy to wear with any of my shoes, but they should be cozy for running around the house with my slippers.
Beautiful shawl, love the French Cancan, added the socks to my queue!! Thanks!!
Beautiful shawl! I love the knitted-on borders; they seem to go quite fast. What a fun pattern!
Lovely shawl…I’m knitting a shawl in almost the same color….
Such a cute idea to have Christmas socks!
Christmas socks?! In May?! *thud*
Do I detect a slight bit of desperation? Your knitting mojo returned with a vengeance. You knitting socks is proof!
Cancan is nice. Can’t wait to see it on the needles. Socks?!? Does Cookie know about this!
That shawl is SO pretty!
